Today's beer is Winter Warmer Ale, brewed by Lancaster Brewing Company. Here's their descriptions.
Our classic Olde Ale redefines the term "full-bodied" with its deliverance of complex and firm malt flavor. A fine blend of British and American hops provides an even bitterness as this beer finishes with a warming alcohol flavor.
Available at the Brewery and in bottles & cases from November - March.
ABV: 8.9% • IBU:30
This beer will leave a very bitter taste in your mouth. My first impression on trying this beer was that I wasn't going to like it. I was drinking it as a pregamer and was way off what I was expecting from a winter ale. I took about a week off of drinking it and tried it again tonight, savoring it slowly and I found that it is respectable. It is very heavy and sticky. It is bitter, but sugary. The beer naturally came to a rest on the back of my tongue where I found it to be very pleasing. It has a very dark and burnt taste that lingers in the back of my mouth well after I've finished drinking it (which is not preferred). It does do a very good job of making me drunk, as I am so much happier after 3 of them then I'd assume I'd be :) All in all, I'm not a fan, but to each his own.
Beerwonks is a site designed for all beer drinkers and all beers. I will objectively post about a beer and all you beer wonks get to banter and bitch about it in the comments. I'm hoping this site will serve as a reference for people looking to try new beers or for drunks who can't remember which beers they've tried. If you have any suggestions for ways to improve the site, please feel free to comment below.
